Central Locking Problem

Help please :lol:

 

We have a 1999 zetec galaxy with NO remote central locking just key open central locking. Went to open the car this morning both driver side and passenger side were frozen, the key got stuck in the passenger side, I managed to get key out but as of this afternoon the passenger side door will not open at all, any door infact. The central locking is only working from drivers side BUT will still NOT open the driver side door.

I am now at the end of my tether so any help will be greatly appreciated as to any ideas please :lol:

so using the key in the drivers side opens the other doors - not the drivers door??

Once in does the locking work from the buttons on the drivers door???

favourite cause of central locking problems is the wiring breaking down in the rubber boots between door and pillar, click in the link in my signature and have a look in the faq thre are some picture/procedures for checking

 

if you cant get in what about the tailgate - do the motors sound ?

The interior parrt of the door lock has stuck in the lock position and will not release unless the key is used on the outside. Quite possibly the casting has broken and the spring will be snagged into the lock mech itself.

 

Strip and refit with new parts is probably the only answer.

Using the key in the drivers side will open all doors except the passenger side door.the rear passenger side door will also open.

When i put the key in passenger side it just turns from side to side but wont open or do anything in fact ;)

If it needs stripping and new parts what is the minimum price I will be looking at??

guess it depends on where you go for parts and if you do it yourself..ebay every now and then has lock thingies..or could try a breakers yard.....cost would be i expect mortgage country if you went to Fraud.i could be wrong though.Have a gander on ebay that should give you some sort of idea
